These are three Japanese kite makers from Nagasaki, Japan.

They use paper they made themselves.

The materials are simple and beautiful.

Split bamboo is used for the frame.

Paper tassels are attached for balance and design.

The bamboo is joined at the middle with string.

The string must be knotted just so and it takes a long time to learn to do it right.

If it's not knotted evenly it won't be balanced.

If it's not balanced it will not fly.

Japanese kites are wonderful.
