1997 - 1998 probably showed my greatest growth as a professional. I was both presenter and attendee, was given two great honors, worked as Westminster's first Student Teacher Coordinator for the Keene State Education Department, and continued to develop a music program that has affected all of the children in the North Wing at the Westminster Center School.
I traveled to Japan as recipient of a fellowship in honor of William J. Fulbright. This honor was given to me by the Japanese government along with two hundred other educators from the United States. We visited 3 schools, Nagasaki University, listened to lectures by national dignitaries, and learned much about the country. Much of what I did is highlighted in my journal.
State Winner of the Compaq Teaching with Technology Award. A $1,000 award for excellence in technology integration was given to me in support of successfully integrating the Internet into the primary classroom. My entry was accepted and I used the money to buy a color printer, digital camera, supplies, and speakers for our classroom.
